Portable Appliance Testing or PAT testing, is an electrical test that must be carried out on any piece of electrical equipment.
This test is a preventative test that reduces the risk of future failure as well as reducing the likelihood of the equipment causing a fire or personal injury.
The electricity at work regulations 1989 require that any portable electrical equipment that has a potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe condition.
Beacon International have a number of trained and competent engineers who can test and certify your electrical equipment using one of our PAT testing machines.
It is recommended that you carry out regular visual inspections of your electrical equipment to spot split power cables or general wear and tear.

Why do a Portable appliance test or PAT test?

Each appliance is visually inspected and then tested on a PAT testing machine which can identify faults that can not be seen. Once the item has passed all tests the results are recorded and a certificate issued.

How do I prepare?
- Please ensure equipment arrives in a visibly clean state with all leads untangled
- Please ensure all serial numbers are visible on the plant being tested
